Remembrance Day 2025

Mossbourne Fobbing Academy Remembrance Service 2025

On Tuesday, 11 November, the Mossbourne Fobbing Academy community gathered for our annual Remembrance Service - a moment of unity, reflection, and gratitude. Each year, this important occasion reminds us of the courage and sacrifice of those who gave their lives in the service of others, and of our shared duty to uphold their legacy.

At 10:50 a.m., as the bell sounded, staff and students made their way onto the English Playground in solemn silence. Under the direction of Mr Russell, our cadets stood proudly to attention, setting the tone for a respectful and dignified ceremony.

Miss Latham delivered a moving recital of The Ode of Remembrance, followed by the haunting notes of The Last Post performed by Mr Kew. A two-minute silence was observed across the academy - a powerful moment of stillness - before Reveille sounded, symbolising hope and renewal.

Wreaths were then laid by the Principal, Cadets, Herd Lane Academy, Governors, and visiting guests - each one representing the academy’s deep respect and gratitude for those who have served and sacrificed.

In his address, Mr Cooper reflected on the significance of remembrance in our daily lives:

“Remembrance is not only about looking back. It’s about the choices we make now - to show kindness, courage, and integrity in all that we do. The world our students inherit will be shaped by the compassion and respect they show one another.”

We remember all those who gave their lives, and those who continue to risk their lives, so that we may be protected and live in freedom.”

He concluded by encouraging students to carry forward the lessons of history - “not just in words, but in deeds” - so that the freedoms we enjoy today continue to endure.

Special thanks go to Miss Latham, Mr Kew, Mr Strickland, Mr Russell, and our cadets for their dedication in ensuring the service was both moving and memorable. It was a powerful reminder that, as a school community, we stand together in gratitude and remembrance.

We will remember them.
