Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural Development at Mossbourne Fobbing Academy

At Mossbourne Fobbing Academy, Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural (SMSC) development is at the heart of our educational mission. We believe that outstanding education is not only about academic success, but about shaping character, values and a strong sense of responsibility to others and to society.

Our SMSC provision is embedded across the whole school experience - through the taught curriculum, assemblies, pastoral systems, enrichment opportunities and wider school culture. Students are encouraged to develop integrity, empathy, resilience and respect, alongside an appreciation of diversity and a confident understanding of their place in modern Britain.

We explicitly promote British Values - democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs - preparing our pupils to participate positively and responsibly in society. Through carefully planned lessons, drop-down days, educational visits and enrichment, students are supported to reflect, question, collaborate and grow as thoughtful, informed young people.

This booklet outlines how SMSC is woven coherently across subjects and wider school life, ensuring every student benefits from a rich, inclusive and values-driven education.
